4th Chester le Street Guides and Rangers (10-14yrs)

Every Thursday at 19:00

Girlguiding UK is the United Kingdom’s largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women, with around half a million members. Every week during term-time over 40 girls meet with adult volunteer leaders at Cornerstones to enjoy a girl-led programme of activities. Guides, aged 10-14 design and develop their own challenging activities which involve them working together as a small team, trying out new things and learning skills that will enable them to grow as girls and young women. Activities have included camps in Guernsey as well as Durham, taking part in musical shows, skating, climbing and canoeing as well as learning in fun ways about the environment, healthy eating and cooking and even chocolate as part of Fair Trade, recipes and marketing. As the girls reach 14 they become members of the Senior Section (14-25) and meet with others of their own age to develop their own leadership skills and take part in more challenging activities. These can include the Duke of Edinburgh Award, becoming a Young Leader with Rainbows, Brownies or Guides, training as an In4mer helping younger girls learn more about issues such as bullying and self-esteem and participating in camps and holidays in the UK and internationally.
